- Product info
Generally speaking we can say that there are two types of tug boats, those that work in ports and those that work on the high seas. Within these two groups there are several local variations as well as boats of different sizes and outputs. The "Sanson" was a high seas tug from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Its engine was driven by a steam boiler that could produce up to 2000 HP, reaching speeds of up to 14 knots. It was fitted with large fenders at the bow and along its sides. Generally, its function was not so much to tow but rather to "push" the transatlantic giants.
